Point Grey Renovation

This 3,200 SQFT home is undergoing a complete gut remodel, where every fixture, finish, and layout has been reimagined to create a character-rich, family-friendly space. This marks the second collaboration with the client, who wanted a home that balances timeless charm with practicality, designed to withstand the daily wear of life, including young children and pets.

The renovation draws inspiration from a classic London character home, featuring pronounced moulding details, elegant yet durable finishes, and a sophisticated, gentleman’s lounge aesthetic throughout. The design embraces rich, deep hues (such as the burgundy media room), which are used throughout the space to create warmth and elegance. These colours, combined with the deep wood tones, create a refined, inviting atmosphere that feels both stylish and timeless.

The kitchen serves as the heart of the home. The design includes integrated appliances, walnut-stained oak and blue cabinetry, and blue zellige tiles, which bring texture and a touch of artistry to the space. Unlacquered brass fixtures add a rich, evolving patina over time, enhancing the sense of character. The checkered stone flooring injects a playful yet elegant element, grounding the space with a touch of sophistication.

The home includes three bedrooms and four bathrooms, each designed with the same balance of form and function. A standout feature is the oversized laundry room, which includes green cabinetry and a dog wash station—adding both practicality and vibrancy to daily chores.

Throughout the home, stone is used strategically to add texture and depth. A dark green marble fireplace in the living room becomes a playful statement contrasting from the custom wood millwork. The primary ensuite shower is completed in a Rosso Levanto slab, a rich red marble with striking, stark white veins. The use of stone helps to tie together the home’s design, providing a sense of continuity and grounding the space.

Additional spaces, such as a media room and home office, offer functional areas for family life while maintaining the home’s refined, gentleman’s lounge-inspired feel.
